Top Gun Pool is a new variety of pool tournament. And, actually, it is a little like a pool league also. Here is why we hope you will like it:
A very fun tournament format.
No matter your skill level, you'll often be on the winning team.
An app on your phone tells you how you are doing and directs you to your next game.
The purpose of this website is to tell you about Top Gun Pool. Be sure to look at the screen shots. When you are ready, pull up the app store on your phone and download the app. It's free.
Top Gun Pool tournaments work like this:
The app will alert you to tournaments within 60 miles of your location, after which you can join the tournament.
Show up one hour prior to the start of the tournament and pay your entry fee.
When game play begins, you will be assigned to one of two teams. The two teams will be evenly matched based on your Top Gun rating.
The app will tell you who you are playing and on which table.
Go play your game and report your game results on the app.
The winning player gets 10 points. The losing player gets points equal to the number of balls pocketed.
Eight ball on the break wins.
The app will continue directing you to your next game until you've played everyone on the other team.
The team scoring the most points wins.
Top Gun Pool (TGP) is a phone app you can use to enter and play in pool tournaments.
The app is available for your iPhone now at the Apple App Store. Just search for "Top Gun Pool".
The app is in testing for Android phones. To participate in the test, send email to top.gun.pool.league@gmail.com with your first and last name and state that you would like to participate in the test. Send the email from the gmail email account that you use to login to your Android phone.
For now, testing is limited to players residing the the Kansas City metro.
After you are added as tester, we will send you a link that you can use to down load the app from the Google Play store.
Before game play starts, you can monitor:
Who has joined the tournament.
The estimated payout amounts.
After game play starts, you can monitor:
Each team's current score.
The names, scores and ratings of the players on each team.
Who is playing who currently, and on which table.
Payouts awarded.
The results of completed games.
Here are all of the payouts:
Winning Team - you get at least your entry fee back! And sometimes more.
Top Gun - you scored the most points. This is the best payout. It will be equal to the the sum of the entry fees minus all of the other payouts.
First eight ball on the break. You want this one! It will usually be 20% of the combined entry fees.
First break and run.
Sweep - you won every game.
In most cases, 100% of the combined entry fees will be given back to the players in the various payouts.
The payout amounts might include a contribution made by the house.
Some sites will provide the option of Jackpot play. Here's how it works.
The payout accumulates at little per player every tournament held at the site.
In the same tournament, if you win two games by making the eight ball on the break, you get to play for the Jackpot.
To win the Jackpot, you must break and run a sequence of balls. The number of balls will depend on your rating. The higher the rating, the more balls required.
If you have a venue with at least 2 pool tables and are located in the Kansas City metro and you have an interest in possibly becoming a site operator, send email to top.gun.pool.league@gmail.com. We would love to hear from you.
If you have US based venue other than in the Kansas City metro, we would love to hear from you also. Let's talk. Maybe something can be worked out.
Be sure to have a look at our other operator related pages available at this website.
